HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolt — For Bolted Connections

HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolts are used to anchor concrete or steel structures and machinery into concrete base structures. The product range is suitable for moderate loading conditions. This multipurpose anchor bolt is widely approved and adopted. 

HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolts transfer tension, compression and shear forces to the reinforced concrete base structure (e.g. foundations). HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolts are used with HPKM® Column Shoes, SUMO® Wall Shoes or even with steel columns and machine fixings. 

There are two anchor types: long anchors (type P), which are used for splices, and short anchors (type L) with headed studs, which are used for anchoring into foundations.

The long anchor bolts transfer compression and tension forces through the rib bond of ribbed bars, while the short anchor bolts transfer them through the combination of headed studs and rib bond. PPL Anchor Bolt Installation Templates are provided to ensure easy and correct installation of the anchor bolts in castings and foundations. The HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolt as a steel part cast into concrete is designed according to Eurocodes or ACI 318M-11.

Standard delivery for each anchor bolt includes two hexagonal nuts and two washers.

Resistances

Design values for tensile or compressive resistance NRd of individual HPM® Anchor Bolt (Steel strength). Design values for shear resistance VRd of individual HPM® Anchor Bolt. (Steel strength). The resistances are determined in accordance with ETA-13/0603.

NOTE 1: Resistances VRd and VRd,0 are valid for height of joint equal to tGrout.
NOTE 2: Resistances shown in tables are without simultaneous action of axial and shear load. For combined resistance, see HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolt Technical Manual section 2.2 – Combined axial and shear load.

HPM® ACI

Materials

Resistances

Design values for shear resistance of individual HPM® Rebar Anchor Bolt. (Steel strength).

The resistances of shear are determined in reference to ACI 318M-11 for final stage and AISC Steel Design Guide 1, Base Plate and Anchor Rod Design, Second edition for erection stage.

NOTE: Resistances ϕVsa and ϕVsa,0 are valid for height of joint equal to tGrout.

Anchor Bolt Surface Coating Options

Anchor bolts are often used in various applications, from dry indoor conditions to harsh industrial conditions where additional protection against steel corrosion is needed. Anchor bolts are available with alternative protective coatings. Standard coating options for anchor bolts are described below. ECO Galvanizing

Peikko’s ECO Galvanizing is a cost-effective and ecological surface coating which allows anchor bolts to be galvanized partly or completely. The coating method is thermally sprayed zinc coating, according to EN ISO 2063. The minimum coating thickness is 100 µm, which corresponds to the performance of hot-dip galvanizing. The coating fulfils environmental class C3 of standard EN ISO 9223:2012. ECO Galvanizing is available for Anchor Bolt models HPM® 24 - 39 and PPM® 30 - 52.

Hot-Dip Galvanizing

Hot-Dip Galvanized (according to EN ISO 1461) anchor bolts are completely dipped into galvanized material. The method is suitable for HPM® and PPM® Anchor Bolts. The minimum coating thickness is 55 µm, which fulfils environmental class C3 of standard EN ISO 9223:2012.
