Cage Rock Foundation – making the most out of weak bedrock

Cage Rock Foundation excels in locations with weak bedrock. It’s an option also if bedrock is 2‑5 meters below the surface. The loads are transferred from the tower to the rock through the anchor cage, concrete and 12 to 16 meter long rock anchors. The use of concrete and a wider base keeps the quantity of rock anchors low – each tower is supported with 16 to 30 rock anchors.

For example, a 5.5 MW turbine with a tower height of 120 meters uses:

  • 230 m3 of concrete (23 truckloads)
  • 35 t of steel and 28 FATBAR® 72 anchors (3 truckloads)
  • 1 Anchor cage (1 truckload)
