High-strength steel PPM® High-Strength Anchor Bolts are used to anchor concrete or steel structures or machinery into concrete base structures in demanding anchoring applications. The product range is suitable for loading conditions where heavy-duty connections are needed.
PPM® High-Strength Anchor Bolts transfer tension, compression and shear forces to the reinforced concrete base structure (e.g., foundations). PPM® High-Strength Anchor Bolts are used with PEC® Column Shoes, SUMO® Wall Shoes or even with steel columns and machine fixings. There are two main anchor types:
The long anchor bolts transfer compression and tension forces through the rib bond of ribbed bars, while the short anchor bolts transfer the forces through the combination of headed studs and rib bond. PPL Anchor Bolt Installation Templates are provided to ensure easy and correct installation of the anchor bolts in castings and foundations.
Surface coating options available: Hot Dip Galvanizing (Zn, EN ISO 1461) and ECO Galvanizing (Zn, EN ISO 2063)
NOTE 1: Resistances VRd and VRd,0 are valid for height of joint equal to tGrout.
NOTE 2: The effect of combined tension and shear must be checked where necessary.
NOTE 3: The base plate design must meet the requirements for the anchor bolt capacity.
Anchor bolts are often used in various applications, from dry indoor conditions to harsh industrial conditions where additional protection against steel corrosion is needed. Anchor bolts are available with alternative protective coatings. Standard coating options for anchor bolts are described below. Peikko’s ECO Galvanizing is a cost-effective and ecological surface coating which allows anchor bolts to be galvanized partly or completely. The coating method is thermally sprayed zinc coating, according to EN ISO 2063. The minimum coating thickness is 100 µm, which corresponds to the performance of hot-dip galvanizing. The coating fulfils environmental class C3 of standard EN ISO 9223:2012. ECO Galvanizing is available for Anchor Bolt models HPM® 24 - 39 and PPM® 30 - 52.
Hot-Dip Galvanized (according to EN ISO 1461) anchor bolts are completely dipped into galvanized material. The method is suitable for HPM® and PPM® Anchor Bolts. The minimum coating thickness is 55 µm, which fulfils environmental class C3 of standard EN ISO 9223:2012.
PEC® Column Shoes are connecting parts for precast concrete columns to form fast and safe column connections under heavy loading conditions. PEC® Column Shoes are used with PPM® Anchor Bolts or COPRA® Anchoring Couplers to create column connections that are instantly moment-resisting.
PPL Anchor Bolt Installation Templates are designed to enable accurate positioning of Anchor Bolts into column foundations or column heads made of concrete. PPL Anchor Bolt Installation Templates are used with HPM® and PPM® Anchor Bolt types and COPRA® Anchoring Couplers.
